The Robertson Farmers’ Market is entering its sixth year and has more to offer than ever before. It takes place behind the tourism office on the corner of Reitz and Voortrekker Streets in its properly established home on the second and last Saturday of every month from 9am to 12pm.

The market is a great place for visitors and locals to get together for a coffee, some breakfast and a chat. There is a wonderful and secure play area for the kids to join in the fun. People are invited to bring a basket and stock up on an array of fresh, local and organic products, which include fruit and vegetables, hot samoosas, fruit juice, pancakes, pesto, olive oil, cupcakes, meat pies, quiches, feta cheese, yoghurt, goat’s milk cheese, funky aprons, cheese straws, chocolate salami, focaccia, pickled beetroot, preserves and many other exciting treats. At the 2008 Good Food & Wine Show in Cape Town, the Robertson Farmers’ Market, sponsored by Robertson Winery, received a silver medal “for their commitment to the ethos of the Good Food & Wine Show for the stylish design, conceptual and interactive elements of the stand, enthusiasm of the staff, superlative services and the finest attention to detail”. Quite a mouthful.
